Economy ( Greek: Oikonomia; oikos – house, nomos – law ) is a science discipline which studies in which way the societies use scarce resources to produce certain goods and services and distribute them among people. The basics of this definition are two main ideas of economy.

First: all goods are scarce. There is no way that one country produces unlimited amount of goods, which means that no matter how well-developed the economy is, it cannot produce enough to satisfy even the small amount of wishes of all of its inhabitants.

Since the wishes are unlimited and wisely limited economy has to find a way to produce in a most effective way, the efficiency is another important issue of modern economy.

From these two ideas arise three basic questions in economy, and they are “WHAT?”, “WHY?” and “FOR WHOM?” ( to produce ). In other words, every society has to choose which goods to produce, in which way ( more or less efficient ) and how the goods will be distributed. These three issues are three main problems around which the economy of any society revolves.

As a science, economy deals with disclosure, analysis and deepening of knowledge about economic laws and social production issues from a standpoint of production relations analysis ( classical economic theory ), which means, rationality of use of limited resources and unlimited human needs. The analysis is being done on micro and macro level.
